Austrian-based Emporia Telecom launched in the UK last year

A year after launching in the UK, Emporia Telecom has now launched in the Republic of Ireland.

The Austrian vendor which specialises in manufacturing handsets designed for seniors, kicks off the launch with its Emporia Telecom S4 smartphone.

As part of the launch into Ireland, Emporia Telecom will sell the S4 exclusively through network partner An Post Mobile.

The S4 is available contract free with An Post Mobile from €139.95, and comes with unlimited calls, texts and 4G data for just €15 per month on its new plan.

Emporia Telecom UK and Ireland MD Chris Millington (pictured) says the launch is “an exciting first” ahead of more to join the vendors line up.

“We’re delighted to announce our first Irish network relationship with An Post Mobile. To have such a credible and respected network partner on board to help us introduce the S4 to the Irish market is key to boost our visibility in front of senior citizens,” said Millington.

“Working with An Post Mobile will enable us to reach a large proportion of seniors in Ireland and introduce them to the world of simple and easy technology and access a whole new world of communication, confidently and independently.”

Specs

The S4 comes with Android 10 OS and features easy-to-read large fonts and app icons displayed on its five inch screen.

It comes with a 13MP main camera, plus an 8MP selfie camera on the front.

Other features include QR scanner, magnifying function, app installer and NFC technology.

There is also an 135-page training handbook that comes with the S4 for additional assistance and reference points.
