New distribution hub revealed as Exertis Group reveals turnover increased by 3.8 per cent to £2.35 billion for year-ending March 31

Distributor Exertis is to open up a new £55 million national distribution centre with 450,000 sq ft of space by March 31 2017.

The new site, which has not confirmed the location of the new centre, will consolidate its seven distribution centres that it currently operates. Exertis has bases in Basingstoke, Stoke, Altham, Harlow, Raunds and Elland. The relocation will be managed on a “staged basis”.

The plan was revealed as part of Exertis’ parent company DCC’s financial results for the year-ending March 31.

Exertis Group (DCC Technology) posted a 3.8 per cent increase in turnover to £2.35 billion (2014: £2.26 billion) and operating profit increased by 2.6 per cent to £49.3 million (£48.1 million), over the reporting period.

Despite the increase in both revenues and operating profit, the results noted that they were impacted by a 17 per cent decline in the UK tablet market and reduced sales of “mobile computing and communications products of one large supplier in the second half of the financial year”.

Exertis UK and Ireland accounts for 79 per cent of the revenue in the division.
