Google in talks with Samsung to prioritise Google Assistant over Bixby

Samsung has pushed its own services in recent years to personalise its offering

Google is reportedly in talks with Samsung over a deal that would see the Korean vendor pushing Google services rather than its own.

That is according to a report by Bloomberg, which claims to have seen evidence of potential discussions.

Samsung, which uses Google’s Android OS, has been active in pushing its own services.

The vendor has most notably launch its own Galaxy App store and Bixby voice assistant.

Google services such as Google Assistant are still available on Samsung devices, however not as easily accessible as Samsung’s alternatives.

A potential deal makes sense for Google, with Samsung the biggest smartphone vendor in the world.

Last year Samsung shipped 298.1 million smartphones, according to Canalys, for 21.8 per cent of the global market share.
