The GSMA has postponed next weeks annual Mobile 360 conference in Brussels due to ongoing security concerns in the city.

However, with the Belgian city currently in lockdown and terrorist threat levels at their highest levels, the GSMA has today taken the decision to postpone until further notice.

In a statement issued earlier today, the GSMA said the restrictions on public transport, would make it too difficult for for attendees, speakers and members to travel to and within Brussels.

The full statement read:Due to the ongoing security situation in Brussels following the attacks in France, the Mobile 360 – Europe conference scheduled to take place on Thursday, 3 December in Brussels, will be postponed to a later date.

‘Whilst there have been no direct threats to the event, the restrictions on travel would make it extremely difficult for attendees, speakers and members to travel to and within Brussels.

‘The GSMA remains committed to the Mobile 360 – Europe event and is currently working with all stakeholders to determine a new date to host the event in 2016. Updated event details will be made available as soon as planning has been finalised.’

The Brussels conference was due to mark the end of the the 360 Series events for 2015, with those taking place in Atlanta (North America), Dubai (Middle East) and Cape Town (Africa), already held since September.

More than 1,400 people attended last years events, spanning eight days across all cities.
