Iconic London exhibition venue Olympia to get 5G coverage

The famous London Olympia exhibition venue is getting 5G coverage as part of the venue’s £1.3bn regeneration.

The installation is by BAI Communications (BAI), the shared infrastructure provider that brought 4G cellular coverage to London Underground. BAI is the official distributed antenna system partner for Olympia and will build the infrastructure that will enable 5G throughout Olympia’s entertainment venues, offices, hotels, performing arts school, bars and restaurants.

The antenna system will be shared by all four UK mobile network operators which minimises equipment and power usage,

Olympic is being revamped with the addition of two hotels, over 25 bars and restaurants, offices, a music arena a performing arts school and theatre all expected to attract 10 million visitors a year.

The 5G deal was brokered by AEG’s Global Partnership’s team, who are sponsorship consultants to the project.

BAI is being branded to Boldyn Networks combine its six BAI businesses in the Northern Hemisphere, and create one of the world’s largest shared network infrastructure providers.
