News comes just six months after Samsung selected Ingram Micro Mobility to distribute its handset range following a review

Ingram Micro Mobility and Samsung have terminated their distribution partnership by mutual consent, Mobile News understands.

In June, Samsung cut its distribution partners from six to just four (Ingram, Tech Data Mobile, Exertis and Data Select), dropping Brightstar and Westcoast (tablets only).

The review was carried out following the appointment of Conor Pierce as Samsung’s mobile head of UK and Ireland.

It is the latest in a number of changes at Ingram’s mobility unit, which recently moved from it’s base in Verwood to the distributor’s head office in Milton Keynes. It also reduced its Mobility staff to around 20, with several key figures departing.

Samsung has also announced several changes, including the departure of Samsung’s global head of mobile JK Shin today.

Ingram Micro and Samsung declined to comment.
