The network provider will work with ISPs in two Yorkshire towns as part of the scheme

KCOM Wholesale has launched a pilot scheme that will see it work with reseller partners in two Yorkshire towns.

The Hull-based wholesaler and infrastructure builder is partnering with four independent internet service providers (ISPs) in Hornsea and Withersea as part of the trial scheme.

It sees the wholesale business working with more resellers across its Yorkshire and Lincolnshire expansion area, while giving customers more options across different retail service providers.

KCOM wholesale and networks MD Tim Shaw said the move will enable KCOM to work with more partners across its full fibre network.

Investment

The network provider pledged to invest £100m in the expansion of its full-fibre network, moving beyond just covering parts of Yorkshire to across the Humber and North Lincolnshire.

Shaw said: “We are investing heavily to build a world class, FTTP network that gives potential partners a great platform to sell their products and services on. We’re now actively seeking new partners to join us on this exciting journey, of which Yorkshire and Lincolnshire are the first step.

“Going forward, we’re interested in developing relationships with more quality providers looking to deliver great business and residential services over full fibre.”

The launch of the pilot has been welcomed by Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart.

“I’m delighted that KCOM have chosen to launch their pilot scheme in Hornsea and Withernsea in my constituency.

“These plans will build on KCOM’s excellent full-fibre infrastructure to give my constituents more choice and faster broadband so they can work, shop, and stream without interruption.”
