Mitchinson returns with Carphone Warehouse

Former Samsung UK and Ireland vice president of mobile Mark Mitchinson has joined Carphone Warehouse to take charge of its indirect B2B channel activity, including the relationship with HSC

Mark Mitchinson, longtime UK boss of Samsung Mobile, has joined Carphone Warehouse as group managing director of business, wholesale and distribution.

He reports in to Graham Stapleton, chief commercial officer of Carphone’s joint venture parent Best Buy Europe.

Mitchinson takes charge of all Carphone’s B2B activity, including its relationship with leading airtime distributor HSC.

Mitchinson exited Samsung in April last year, after 11 years at the helm, during which time the manufacturer’s relationship with Carphone was close.

He was responsible for its £50m Chelsea Football Club shirt sponsorship in 2005. He drove the distribution and branding of Samsung’s handsets in the UK, where it toppled Nokia as the number one manufacturer for a period in 2009.

He previously held leading management positions at Nokia and also US distributor Brightpoint.
