MTN begins 5G launch in Nigeria

MTN Nigeria is one of Africa’s biggest mobile networks with around 75 million subscribers

MTN Nigeria has launched its first 5G network covering parts of Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Kano, Owwerri, and Maidugari, using Ericsson’s 5G technology.

5G will revolutionise the way we live and communicate across industries. We will continue to pursue the rollout of 5G technology to revolutionise internet access across the continent,” said MTN Nigeria Chief Technical Officer, Mohammed Rufai

Hossam Kandeel, Vice President of Ericsson Middle East and Africa added: “we are proud to be a part of Nigeria’s 5G digital transformation that has only just begun. We are committed to delivering the best service to our partners at MTN Nigeria to support them in this thrilling journey.”

MTN Nigeria was the country’s first Mobile Network Operator to be listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
