Nokia has announced software-as-a-service (SaaS) for its Fixed Networks portfolio line-up.

The SaaS model enables more flexibility for operators, reduces IT dependencies and creates an easier way of delivering new services to customers.

The usage-based subscription also means operators can deploy Fixed Network applications on a SaaS delivery model and can benefit from up to 25 per cent lower cost of ownership.

Other products in the portfolio include operational tools for automated activation of end-user fiber modems, predictive care and network build.

Operators can start with a small investment and subscription plan and can scale up or down based on how its business operates.

Sandy Motley, President, Fixed Networks at Nokia, said: “SaaS gets operators started quickly. No special IT set-up means reduced upfront deployment costs, and in a highly competitive world, operation efficiency is key to both high quality customer service and business profitability.

“Operators can tailor the subscription package choosing the Service Level Agreements and levels of support to meet their operational needs.

“They can deploy different Nokia SaaS instances for use in production, lab testing, pilots, or development.”
