O2 gives special send-off to departing CEO Dunne

Operator replaces advert on front of Slough HQ with picture of him, complete with his own hashtag

O2 has given a special send-off to departing CEO Ronan Dunne as he prepares to leave the company after 15 years.

Completing his last day there, the mobile operator replaced the advert on the front of its head office in Slough with a picture of him, complete with #GoodLuckRonan.

Thousands of employees bid farewell to Dunne, with an event taking place that featured the likes of England Rugby head coach Eddie Jones and captain Dylan Hartley, who paid tribute to him in recognition of his achievements at O2, which sponsors the team.

Dunne is now moving to the US to to take up the newly created role of group president at mobile operator Verizon Wireless, based at its headquarters in New Jersey.

He is being replaced as CEO of O2 – a position he has held for eight years – by chief financial officer Mark Evans.
