Retailer will offer free WI-Fi on all new purchases and £10 top-up for new prepay customers starting on November 16

Phones 4U is offering all new contract and prepay customers three months’ free access to Wi-Fi hotspots run by The Cloud as part of a Christmas promotion package which the firm predicts will cost more than £5.5 million.

The retailer is also offering a free £10 top up with new prepay purchases, which will be delivered by text on Christmas day.

Both offers will run from November 16 until Christmas Eve.

The launch of the free Wi-Fi offer follows Phones 4U’s decision to use The Cloud to offer free Wi-Fi for Phones 4U customers at its retail stores.

After the three free months’ Wi-Fi, customers can sign up to keep using The Cloud hotspots for £2.99 per month.

Phones 4U director of customer development Alistair Firth said: “We recognised that our smartphone customers want to be able to utilise the full capability of their handset without having to worry about their network data allowance.

“4U Wi-Fi not only gives them unlimited Wi-Fi access at locations including McDonalds restaurants, JD Wetherspoon pubs, Caffe Nero and thousands more venues including Phones 4U stores, but excitingly it also provides the added convenience of a one-time registration, so there’s no more wasting time with repeated registrations and logins, just seamless access every time they enter one of The Cloud’s 6,000-plus Wi-Fi hotspots.”

Phones 4U trading director Scott Hooton said: “Pay as you GO smartphones are always an extremely popular gifting option at this time of year, whether it’s parents buying them for their children, or people buying them for their loved ones.”
