EE offering return flights to 12 European cities, while Phones 4u is giving away a free Galaxy Tab 3 with the first 1,000 pre-orders

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has today been made available to pre-order in the UK ready for release on April 11.

It is now available across all high street retailers and mobile operators, including Carphone Warehouse, Phones 4u, EE, O2, Vodafone and Three. Pricing differs depending on the retailer or operator.

Some are offering customers incentives when they pre-order. EE is giving away return flights to one of 12 European destinations. The cities are Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Nice, Paris, Prague, Rome and Vienna.

Phones 4u is offering a free Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 to the first 1,000 pre-orders, as well as a £50 voucher to spend at the Google Play Store to all customers pre-ordering.

Yesterday the retailer made the Galaxy S5 available for live demonstrations in 10 stores across the UK. Phones 4u chief marketing officer Scott Hooton revealed that pre-registrations had “rocketed” to over five figures since its official global unveiling.

“The demand we experienced for the live demonstrations we provided across ten of our stores yesterday shows just how much the public want to get their hands on the new Samsung Galaxy S5,” he added.

On February 28 and three days into the pre-registration process, Carphone Warehouse said interest was up 130 per cent compared to what it received for the Galaxy S4, and was ahead of what its predecessor had achieved in the whole 10 day period.

A spokesperson said: “The S5 looks set to become a record breaking handset for Samsung at a key time in the mobile calendar as several major manufacturers launch handsets within weeks of one another. Our early pre-registration figures for this handset were off the charts and we’re expecting web traffic this evening to be high as Samsung’s loyal fans log on to place their orders at midnight.”

The fifth addition to the premium line of smartphones was unveiled at the manufacturer’s ‘Unpacked 5’ event on February 24 in Barcelona, taking place on the opening evening of Mobile World Congress.
