Datahop division becomes a Tier 1 carrier for co-location data centre service provider, offering services from the company’s new London base

Six Degrees Group division Datahop has signed a deal with Interexion to become the first carrier to offer Tier 1 Transit and Multihomed Transit Services directly from its new data centre in London.

Datahop’s network consists of a fibre ring that connects 21 points of presence in London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Paris.

Six Degrees said that as an ongoing expansion of this network, it chose to grow into the data centre to take advantage of Interexion’s diverse customer base.

It added that by locating with Interexion, it can drive business value from being in close proximity to a range of potential customers within Interexion’s digital media, financial and Cloud hubs, expanding the reach of its Datahop offering.

Interaxion’s customers will benefit from high availability, speed and cost efficiency of the connectivity, including multihoming solutions, according to Six Degrees.

Daniel Lowe, managing director of Six Degrees’ managed data division said: “We knew that Interexion’s newest data centre could offer us access to a unique community of customers and partners. It is a great opportunity for us to create new services and improve our network reach.”

Interexion UK managing director Greg McCulloch said: “Good connectivity options are critical to our customers and this announcement further reflects our commitment to continually growing our carier density within the London campus.

“The Datahop service is a valuable addition to our carrier community, and it’s great that our customers can now benefit from their comprehensive portfolio of services.”
