Distributor aiming to extend reach of the company’s UP product range into more retailers and new vertical markets

Tech Data has signed a UK distribution agreement with wearable device firm Jawbone.

It will see Tech Data make use of its reach in the consumer technology channel to extend availability of Jawbone’s UP range to additional retailers.

The distributor will also be working to recruit specialist partners and drive awareness and customer demand in vertical markets such as fashion, pharmaceuticals and particularly insurance where it claims the consensual use of activity trackers is already being explored by companies to help them monitor the health and behaviour patterns of customers.

Tech Data business development manager for wearable technologies Michael Cain said: “The UP range of Jawbone wearable activity trackers is becoming an increasingly familiar sight on the wrists of consumers. By combining the unique design of UP activity trackers with the award-winning UP app, Jawbone provides the best-in-class wellness solution.

“Tech Data will be drawing on all its experience and capabilities in the consumer electronics sector to build Jawbone’s presence in the market and meet the diverse needs of retailers. We will also be focusing on specialist outlets and websites, such as those selling fashion, pharmacy and health products, to open up new areas of growth potential. We believe there is vast potential in this area of the market for Jawbone.”
