Former CEO steps down after five years and has also resigned from his position as a director

Truphone chairman and former CEO Steve Robertson has stepped down from his role after five years with the MVNO.

Robertson (pictured) was Truphone CEO from 2011 until January, when he was appointed as chairman and CEO of strategic partnerships after Ralph Steffans joined the London-based firm as its new CEO.

Robertson joined the loss-making provider after moving from BT Openreach. He has also resigned from his position as a director at the company, according to Companies House.

During his time as CEO, Truphone expanded its “roaming” SIM, which allows multiple numbers plus reduced calling rates while abroad, to over 66 countries.

Truphone confirmed his departure but declined to comment or reveal if he will be replaced at the company, which overall posted net losses of £288 million during Robertson’s tenure as CEO.

Update: Robertson has been announced as the new CEO of Thames Water, replacing Martin Baggs, who steps down after six years. He will take up the role in September
