Fixed line dealer Unicom is to increase staff numbers to 700, claiming success for its Orange MVNO, launched this year

Manchester-based Unicom is to recruit 200 more staff to take its headcount to 700.

The fixed line reseller, which has a fixed line customer base of 90,000, entered the MVNO market in May after signing with Orange MVNA Transatel. It has targeted 3,000 connections by the end of the year having passed 1,000 in four months.

Unicom has offices in Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Ipswich, Milton Keynes, Newcastle upon Tyne, Nottingham, Sheffield and Stoke on Trent  and is recruiting for 20 additional staff in each.

Positions include telemarketing, field sales, broadband sales, customer service advisors, credit control, retention advisors and collection advisors.

Unicom operations director Chris Earle (pictured) said: “Our mobile phone product launch has gone exceptionally well, far better than expected. To ensure we continue to deliver the excellent service our business customers have come to expect we are recruiting for all our key departments such as sales, customer service and customer relations.”
