Former Excell group sales director for key accounts joins as group sales and marketing director, as Vodafone Platinum Partner also reveals it has won its biggest One Net deal to date

Evolve Telecom has appointed industry veteran Stuart James to the new role of group sales and marketing director as it continues to drive its total communications approach.

James joins the Southend-based Vodafone Platinum Partner from telecoms and IT services provider Excell, where he was group sales director for key accounts for 18 months and previously mobile sales director for nearly three years.

Prior to joining Excell, an O2 Centre of Excellence Data Partner, James was a channel director at Orange for three years and before that was strategic partner director at O2 for nine years.

James said: “Evolve’s approach to joined-up communications and access to Vodafone’s One Net solution provides me with the obvious opportunity to utilise my full skill set at such an exciting time.”

His appointment comes as Evolve has won its largest Vodafone One Net deal to date. The five-year contract with UK accountancy firm Wilkins Kennedy sees the B2B dealer supply its offices in Central London, as well as those in Orpington and Ashford, Kent, with the unified comms solution, replacing phone systems from Avaya.

Scattered
Evolve first installed One Net at the firm’s office in Southend in 2011, with the latest contract connecting more than 300 of its staff. In time, Evolve is hoping to rollout One Net to all 15 of Wilkins Kennedy’s UK offices.

Wilkins Kennedy IT committee chairman Dan Nixon said: “We have literally had no synergy between our offices. We didn’t really have any foundation plans for our telephony estate; it was very much a scattered office-by-office approach. What we didn’t want was just someone coming in providing us with mobiles and not understanding the place we needed to go. What Evolve has done is listened, understood, recommended and delivered a solution we totally believe in.”

Evolve has four offices located in Southend, London, Cambridge and Cardiff and employs more than 100 staff, 40 of which are focused on driving sales of non-mobile-specific products.

Managing director Mark Gordon (pictured) said: “Our proposition is in a good place and we are in a strong position to put more focus behind joining up the various points of revenue streams across mobile, fixed line and phone systems.

“It brings it all together and provides us with better longevity and value from our customers. The time is right to drive that forward, and in time, we expect to be one of Vodafone’s valued One Net partners.”
