SME customers upload speeds will double

Virgin Media O2 is providing a free speed boost to the UK’s SMEs to help them bounce back from Covid-19.

Starting today, business customers taking the Voom Fibre broadband service will see an increase in upload speeds – with some customers’ speeds more than doubling at no extra charge.

With SMEs generating 50 per cent of total business revenue and employing more than 4 in 10 workers, the upgrade will mean businesses working in more than 100,000 locations across the country will receive the boost.

Further research conducted during the pandemic revealed that more than two-thirds of SMEs reported a decline in revenues with nearly half adapting or pivoting their business model and embracing new technology.

Three quarters believe the changes made during the pandemic will become permanent, with digital connectivity set to remain integral for SMEs even after restrictions ease.

Virgin Media O2 managing director Jo Bertram said: We’re supercharging business broadband with a completely free upgrade that will help SMEs bounce back from the pandemic.

“After a very challenging year, connectivity has been core to survival for many small businesses, with most uploading and downloading more than ever before.

“As part of our mission to upgrade the UK we want to help get our nation’s entrepreneurs back on their feet, starting with a free digital boost.”

Voom Fibre is available from £32 per month at https://www.virginmediabusiness.co.uk.
