Vodafone becomes Glastonbury official partner

EE ends a 20-year association as the festival’s network of choice

Vodafone has signed a multi-year deal with the Glastonbury Festival to be Official Connectivity Partner, taking over from EE after 20 years.

The network will be boosted to the highest capacity for the 2023 festival to keep around 200,000 festival-goers connected, Data consumption has nearly doubled at the Festival from 2019 to 2022. around 182 terabytes were used last year with 5.4 million Hey Jude downloads from Saturday Night’s Paul McCartney concert.

An EE statement said:

After more than 20 years we can confirm that our technology partnership with Glastonbury Festival has come to an end. We are proud of the ground-breaking moments we have brought to this partnership from introducing onsite mobile phone charging to trialling many eco-charging innovations, building the first bespoke 4G and 5G networks across Glastonbury’s 900-acre site, and launching the Glastonbury app. While our official partnership comes to an end, we will continue to work hard for our customers to ensure the EE network remains the best network both onsite at Glastonbury Festival”

 Vodafone customers will be able to gain access to tickets over the VeryMe Rewards programme available on the MyVodafone app which will also be a portal for promotions and experiences for everyone who is at the Festival. Vodafone will also offer free phone charging for everyone at the festival.

Gkastobury adds to Wimbledon BST Hyde Park, Mighty Hoopla, and Kendal Calling as events where Vodafone is the official connectivity partner.

Glastonbury director Emily Eavis said: “The commitment made to supporting our festival in its technical and network requirements as well as other projects throughout the year is great. We look forward to working with them in the years ahead.”
