Network tests saw EE bag six Rootscore awards for Overall Performance, Network Speed, Mobile Internet, Call, and Text, but Three bagged Reliability gong

EE has been named the best mobile operator in five out of six categories, according to the latest network testing results from RootMetrics.

The tests for the the second half of 2015 found EE was the best performing UK operators for overall performance, network speed, mobile internet, calls and texts.

It marks another RootMetrics win for EE, who has been named best network by the testing firm for every half-yearly test since it launched in the UK in 2012.

EE won overall performance in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and tied with Three in Wales.

“Choosing the mobile operator that’s right for you is not one-size-fits-all. While some people care most about fast mobile internet so they can watch videos or download music without delay, others just want to know that they can reliably make a call or send a text. Consumers can use this report to make informed decisions based on where they live and how they tend to use their phone.”

O2 saw its performance improve across calls, texts and internet speed, as it bagged a runner-up nod for text, and third place speed, both at the expense of Three. However, it was still ranked last out of all the networks.

Vodafone was named runner-up for network speed for the second consecutive testing, and was ranked third for overall performance.

Overall, RootMetrics took 874,586 samples and covered nearly 24,000 miles across the UK during its latest round of testing.
