No arrests made following investigations into Vodafone cyber attack

The names, telephone numbers and bank details of under 2,000 Vodafone UK customers are feared to have been taken

No arrests have been made in connection to a cyber attack that threatened the personal of under 2,000 Vodafone UK customers on October 28.

Vodafone is currently working with the National Crime Agency and the police to investigate the attack. Details of 1,827 Vodafone UK customers, including names, telephone numbers, sort codes and the last four digits of bank accounts, are feared to have been taken. A Vodafone spokesperson told Mobile News no arrests have been made during its investigation.

The operator said that cyber criminals allegedly used emails and passwords from “a source external to Vodafone” yo access customer accounts.

TalkTalk and British Gas have also become victims of cyber attacks over the last few weeks. The attack on Vodafone makes it the largest UK company to be hit by a cyber breach.
