The move will allow customers to add a contract and SIM when buying a handset through retailers, with O2 tariffs now included

Weave.tech has partnered with O2 in a move to expand its SIM-only products in the retail channel.

The partnership comes after the London-based technology enabler adding four other new retail partnerships in recent months.

As part of the tie-up, Weave.tech will showcase its new suite of e-commerce plug-ins, allowing customers to add a contract and SIM when buying a handset through retailers, with O2 tariffs now included.

Weave.tech’s software manages the SIM transaction, including network credit checks and address validation.

“Weave Tech are an exciting technology business that gives O2 access to a growing segment of the market,” said O2 director of consumer trading Malcolm Cubitt.

“The Weave Tech proposition offers simplicity to the retailer, whilst they get all the major benefits of working directly with the network.”

Weave.tech founder Ashley Bailey added: “The retailer will benefit with additional margins by selling both airtime and device, while the consumer will save money over traditional contracts and enjoy the benefits of joining O2 – such as keeping your mobile number, access to [loyalty scheme] Priority, free O2 WiFi when you’re out and about, and so much more.”
