Appointment of experienced retail boss Brian Collie to accelerate growth of Expansys as global online retailer

Online retailer Expansys has appointed Brian Collie to its board as it looks to accelerate its plan to become a ‘global online technology superstore’.

Collie is joining the Expansys board as non-executive director, effective from November 1. He has previously worked with online leisure and travel retailer, as well as serving as group retail director at BAA where he oversaw commercial activity across twenty airports and transformed the retail offering at a number of sites including Heathrow and Gatwick. He also introduced e-commerce and telecoms to BAA’s commercial portfolio.

Collie is currently chairman of the Jurys Inn Hotel Group, as well as non-executive director at designer outlet village developer McArthurGlen Group.

Expansys outlined its plan to become a global online technology superstore after agreeing the purchase of Data Select Network Solutions and PJ Media in July.

At the time, Expansys chairman Bob Wigley said: “Expansys represents a high-growth opportunity built on a world class technology platform. Expansys has the potential to be an international market leader.”

Of Collie, Wigley said: “With an extensive career in international retail, both physical and online, Brian Collie has a great deal to offer Expansys as we seek to accelerate our growth as a global retailer of consumer electronics.”
