The channel claimed disarray in Samsung’s pricing of its Galaxy Tab device last week, as high street retailers offer the for less than they can buy it at trade.
Distributors are able to offer the Samsung Galaxy Tab to dealers for around £480, excluding VAT. It is available, without a contract, for £489 in Carphone Warehouse stores and £469 in Tesco and PC World outlets, including VAT.
Dealers have been left frustrated by their inability to turn any kind of profit on the devices. Distributors have run stock down. The Galaxy Tab is available for around £440 on the grey market, however.
A Samsung spokesperson said: “Due to interest in the device from distributors and retailers in the UK, Samsung is working hard to fulfil orders. All distributors determine their individual pricing of Samsung products.”
