Hardware distributor’s profits and revenues jump 27 per cent and 24 per cent respectively in 2009/10, according to latest Companies House filing

IT and mobile handset distributor Micro Peripherals (Micro-P) posted a 24 per cent jump in sales revenue, to £476 million, in the year to March 30, 2010.

Its operating profit increased by £1.9 million to £8.9 million in the period, up 27 per cent compared with 2008/9 figures.

Pre-tax profit increased to £6.57 million, after factoring costs paid to parent company, Irish conglomerate DCC.

The firm’s staff numbers were up by 27 in the period, to 407, based at its headquarters in Basingstoke, Hampshire, and its distribution centre in Altham, Lancashire.

Its latest Companies House filing says 266 people work in selling and distribution and 141 in general administration, up from 253 and 127 respectively in the year-ago period.

The report said the company’s focus was on “maximisation of profit” in the period.

It said it had achieved 24 per cent revenue growth and 27 per cent profit growth through effective cost management and focus on margins.

The report stated: “This is achieved by maintaining ad developing close relations with our key customers and suppliers and by exploring opportunities for growth with new partners.”
