Xiaomi unveils mid-range Redmi Note 9 series

All three smartphones feature a quad-camera setup

Chinese smartphone vendor Xiaomi has announced three new smartphones via an online global launch event.

Xiaomi has taken the wraps off the latest Redmi series with two new smartphones, the Redmi Note 9 and Note 9 Pro, and has also introduced a new addition to its Mi series with the Mi Note 10 Lite.

Xiaomi has yet to confirm UK pricing, availability and a release date.

The Redmi Note is available from $199 (3GB RAM and 64GB of storage) or $249 for the 4GB of RAM version with 128GB of memory.

Both variants of the Redmi Note 9 Pro come with 6GB of RAM, with the 64GB memory option starting at $269 and the 128GB model available from $299.

The Mi 10 Lite will cost either €349 (6GB RAM with 64GB storage) or €399 (6GB RAM and 128GB storage), with the phone available in either white, black or purple.

Redmi 9 series

The Redmi Note 9 Pro

Both the Redmi Note 9 and Note 9 Pro come with a quad-camera setup, with the 9 Pro setup consisting of an 64MP main lens, plus 8MP ultra-wide lens, 5MP macro lens and 2MP depth sensor.

Meanwhile the Note 9 has a 48MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, 2MP macro lens and 2MP depth sensor.

The Redmi Note 9 range

The Redmi Note 9 Pro has a 6.67-inch notch-free display, with the Note 9 featuring a 6.53-inch display which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The headphone jack is present on both models, while the Note 9 Pro will come in a choice of grey, green and white, with the Note 9 available in slightly different shades of the same three colours.

Xiaomi’s Redmi 9 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 720 processor and has a 5,200mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging.

The Note 9 has a 5,020mAh battery and is powered by a MediaTek Helio G85 processor.

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite

Xiaomi has also introduced a newer version of the Mi Note 10, with a Lite version added to the portfolio.

It comes with a 6.47-inch 3D curved AMOLED display and also features a curved glass back on the rear.

Once again there is a quad-camera setup on show, with a 64MP main camera that includes Sony’s IMX686 sensor.

It has a 5,260mAh battery, which Xiaomi claims can last for two days, while the smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 730 chipset.
