The new device will be available from September 21 priced from £89.99

Amazon has launched an updated version of its Fire HD 8 tablet, which it claims has improved battery life and performance than the previous generation.

The £89.99 product comes equipped with an eight-inch HD display and up to 12 hours of battery life. A 1.3GHz processor and 1.5GB of RAM combine to make it 50 per cent faster than its predecessor, according to Amazon. Internal memory stands at 16GB or 32GB, which is expandable to 200GB using a microSD card.

Four colour options are available; black, magenta, blue and tangerine. The device will be able to purchase online from Amazon and participating retailers from September 21. A range of protective covers starting from £24.99 will also be purchasable in black, magenta, blue and tangerine.

The new addition joins other tablets in the Amazon which include the Fire (£49.99), Fire HD 10 (£169.99) and the Fire Kids Edition (£99.99).
