Vodafone platinum partner adds 3,500 connections with acquisition of gold dealer

Olive Communications has acquired its third customer base in two months with the addition of gold partner Pioneer Communications’s 3,500 Vodafone connections.

The purchase gives Olive its first presence in the north of England, with two employees and a member of Pioneer’s senior management becoming Olive staff.

Olive’s connection base is close to 50,000 with over 40,000 of these on Vodafone, following the addition of silver partner MPC’s 1,200 connections last month and Connection 365’s 1,000 strong base in July.

Pioneer was awarded Vodafone gold partner of the year in 2010 and will continue trading in its other business areas such as asset-tracking products.

Olive operations director Kerry Davies (pictured) said: “It was a good opportunity for us and although we have customers in the north, this gives us a presence there too. It’s part of our ongoing plan to expand the business.”

She added the firm was planning to hire more staff in its customer services and sales teams, alongside the opening of a new office in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, to accommodate its mobile sales and account management teams.

Olive’s head office in High Wycombe will continue to host the management team and customer service departments.

“We’ve taken on a lot of new staff over the last two months. Our new office will help us accommodate them, and we’re also looking at taking on four more customer sales assistants and two or three in customer services,” Davies added.

Olive has also appointed former RIM partner manager Matt Stevens as its new partner channel manager.
