The move strengthens Oppo’s position in LATAM market

Oppo has continued its international expansion as the vendor announces its entry into two South American markets.

The Chinese smartphone vendor has confirmed its entry into Chile and Colombia.

This move reflects the manufacturer’s growth in recent times, with the vendor shipping 37.6 million smartphones in the first quarter of this year according to Canalys.

This number is up from 23.5m sales for the same quarter last year and worth 11 per cent of the overall market share.

And it continues the brand’s expansion in Latin America, following Oppo’s entrance to Mexico last year.

Commenting on its entrance into the two new markets, Oppo overseas business lead Scott Zhang said it represents Oppo’s ambitions to grow.

“Latin America represents an important role in our global market development plans. With growing mobile Internet connectivity in the region and relatively high smartphone penetration rate – especially in Chile and Colombia – we are excited to be entering these new markets where we can bring our innovations to more users and partners.”

“We have long-term ambitions for the Latin American market, where our goal is to become the region’s leading smartphone brand,” added Figo Zhang, President of OPPO LATAM.
