Ofcom has confirmed that its Group director Jonathan Oxley has decided to step down.

Oxley, who is also a board member, will step down from his position at the regulator at the end of June.

He joined Ofcom in November 2014 from PwC.

He was interim chief executive for a spell last year until the appointment of Dame Melanie Dawes.

Commenting on his decision, he said: “Ofcom is an organisation that I will always admire because of the dedication of its people.

“Everyone is absolutely focused on helping to improve communications services for people and business across the UK.

Contribution

Ofcom chairman Lord Burns praised Oxley for his contribution to the regulator.

“I am grateful to Jonathan for his significant contribution to Ofcom’s work. He agreed to my request to step up to become interim Chief Executive last year and did a great job, and has been an important voice on the Ofcom Board.”

Current acting competition group director David Clarkson will replace Oxley.
