Vodafone platinum partner buys network bases from Westcom Mobile Technology and Car Telephone Services, and is targeting further acquisitions

Premier Telecom has continued its acquisition strategy by buying the mobile bases of Vodafone gold and silver partners Westcom Mobile Technology and Car Telephone Services, adding 5,000 connections.

Premier Telecom, a top-tier Vodafone platinum partner, agreed the deal with Westcom, worth 3,000 Vodafone connections, this month, while Car Telephone services, worth around 2,000, was acquired during Q2. Fees for both have
not been disclosed.

They are the Fareham-based dealer’s second and third acquisitions in the past 12 months, having picked up 1,500 connections from Vodafone silver partner Crimson Tide in September.

Premier Telecom now takes on Westcom’s offices in Plymouth, Devon, expanding its UK presence further to the South Coast. It now has six offices in the UK, adding to its headquarters in Fareham, Hampshire and offices in Southampton, Leeds, Hereford and Camberley in Surrey.

Both Car Telephone services and Westcom continue to operate as usual, connecting to other networks.

Premier Telecom managing director Darren Ridge (pictured) told Mobile News in February the firm had a base of around 92,000 connections, and the new additions, coupled with organic growth, is expected to take numbers to above 100,000.

Ridge confirmed more acquisitions are likely if the right deal can be found.

“The acquisition of Westcom makes particular sense. It gives us a presence in the west of the UK and enables us to have a far greater national presence. We’re still looking at buying the Vodafone bases of other partners that would prove good strategic fits.”

Premier Telecom was named Vodafone ‘Platinum Partner of the Year’ for the second successive year last month.
