Up to 95 per cent of Ryanair’s infrastructure covered by Vodafone under deal

Budget airline Ryanair has selected Vodafone Business as its technology communication partner across Europe for the next seven years.

The partnership means that up to 95 per cent of Ryanair’s telecoms will be directly managed by Vodafone Business, including the hosting of core infrastructure such as online booking, in-flight transactions, passenger boarding, training centres, offices and data centres.

Under a current agreement between the two companies, Ryanair has 20,000 IoT connections with Vodafone Business to connect aircrew’s tablets and handheld devices.

Vodafone Business CEO Vinod Kumar said: “We’re delighted to build on our existing relationship with Ryanair, continuing as their trusted technology partner in helping them to grow their business. Airline passengers will demand even more in the coming years, and we will work alongside Ryanair to help them prepare for the future using our full portfolio of products and services.”

Ryanair CTO John Hurley added: “This extended partnership with Vodafone will provide us with the technical support to allow us to make improvements quickly and seamlessly, including migration to a new wide area network that will enable Ryanair be more agile in its connectivity.”
