Samsung has announced the Galaxy XCover Pro, a new B2B-exclusive device.

The rugged device’s USPs include a replaceable 4,050mAh battery and mobile Point of Sale (mPOS) capability.

It also features two programmable buttons that enable push-to-talk functionality, scanning and other enterprise applications. Samsung has partnered with Microsoft to include its walkie talkie capability Microsoft Teams

Additionally, the device is covered by fundamental rugged specifications, including IP68 dust and water protection, MIL-STD-810 grading, withstanding 1.5m drop tests, and ability to operate in wet weather or while wearing gloves.

It also comes with Samsung Knox protection and firmware administration software. It runs on Android 10 on Samsung’s Exynos 9611 chipset.

Additional specs include 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage (with microSD capability up to 512GB), a 13MP front camera, a 25MP + 8MP dual rear camera setup, a 6.3-inch FHD+ Infinity Display, and accelerometer, compass and gyroscope.

“The Galaxy XCover Pro is a reflection of Samsung’s increased investment and commitment to the B2B market,” said Samsung’s president and CEO of IT & mobile communications division DJ Koh. “We believe the business mobility market is ripe for transformation in 2020 and we intend to be the leader in pioneering an open and collaborative mobile platform for the next generation of digitally-enabled workforce.”

Samsung has worked with Visa to provide Samsung POS, an mPOS solution that removes the need for dedicated POS hardware and facilitates payments.

“The Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro is a robust retail POS platform for a true retail digital transformation,” said Visa’s Head of Seller Solutions Mary Kay Bowman. “Its applications for businesses such as healthcare, airlines and restaurants are a great example of how Visa together with Samsung can democratize access to payment experiences that consumers increasingly expect, no matter where they are.”

Samsung has confirmed a February 7 UK release. Mobile News has reached out to Samsung and distributor Data Select for pricing details.
