Universal VR Headset from Goji will cost £39.99 when it goes on sale this Saturday

Carphone Warehouse has launched its own virtual reality headset, which it claims costs just half as much as some others.

The Universal VR Headset from Goji will cost £39.99 when it is made available through Carphone stores and online via its website this Saturday (July 16).

It is compatible with a range of Android and iOS smartphones, including the iPhone 6 and 6s Plus, which slot onto the front of the headset to act as the screens for each eye.

There are a range of 3D apps customers can download from both Apple’s and Google’s respective stores, including games, films and 360-degree video. The headset also comes with magnetic controls to pause and resume playback.

Carphone Warehouse accessories director Dean Kramer said: “Everyone should have the opportunity to try the latest VR technology, so we’re bringing a universal headset to our stores for our customers to experience.

“At just half the price of some other headsets currently available and compatible with a range of handsets, we’d encourage everyone to pop into their local store where our staff will be on hand to assist  those  looking to test out this latest mobile accessory.”
