Former chief executive of EMI Music takes over responsibilities held by retailer’s Group CEO Tim Whiting since May

Phones 4U has announced former chief executive of EMI Music (Europe and Rest of World) David Kassler as its new CEO.

Kassler will join the retailer on November 11, assuming the responsibilities that Phones 4U Group CEO Tim Whiting has been covering on an interim basis since May. Whiting will remain in his position.

He served as CEO at EMI until its acquisition by Universal earlier this year. Prior to this, he held the position of operating partner at Terra Firma and a managing director at Bass Brewing.

Whiting said: “We are delighted to welcome David to Phones 4u. This is an important time for our business and an incredibly exciting period for the industry. We’re confident that David’s passion and track record of delivering excellent customer experiences will bring success to Phones 4u as we continue our journey in the mobile market.”
